My Running Hero of the Day …

… is Cody McCasland, an eight-year-old boy from Colleyville, Tex., who participated in the Texas School for the Deaf’s Ranger Triathlon over the weekend.

Cody is a double amputee, owing to a rare genetic condition that caused his legs to form without knees or tibias. He finished the kids’ triathlon — a 100m swim, a 2.2-mile bike ride, and an 800m run — in under 30 minutes.

What an inspiration!

For I know well the plans I have in mind for you,
says the Lord,
plans for your welfare, not for woe!
Plans to give you a future full of hope.
